The beginning of Tres Ríos at Hacienda San Agustin
A dream in the desert
In an arid and fertile place there was an opportunity to forge a dream: a wine company that would produce quality wines in Chihuahua.
Thus Tres Ríos was born, a company that has been growing and developing its vineyards on the lands of Hacienda San Agustín.
In 2011, the company began planting 1,500 units of vines of different varieties and rootstocks from New Mexico.
The site was selected for its warm climate during the day and its cool nights, which provide an ideal environment for vine cultivation. The soil, with good drainage, is also suitable for plant development.
In the first vintage, in 2014, Tres Ríos won two gold medals at the Ensenada Tierra de Vinos International Wine Competition.
These awards were a recognition of the company’s work and effort to produce high quality wines.
Rescuing History
The Creation of the Winery in Las Ruelas
After the success of its first vineyards, Tres Ríos decided to expand and create the first wine route in Chihuahua.
To this end, it acquired new lands in Santa Isabel and planted vineyards with different grape varieties.
In 2013, the company acquired the Las Ruelas ranch, located on the banks of the Santa Isabel river.
This ranch, which dates back to the 19th century, has an old house built with adobe walls more than 1 meter thick.
Seeing the potential of these walls, which provided an ideal microclimate for grape ripening, they were meticulously restored to become the heart of the winery.were meticulously restored to make them the heart of the winery.
This space, which fuses history and tradition with modernity, is now equipped with state-of-the-art technology for winemaking and bottling, rescuing a piece of Chihuahua’s history and giving it a renewed purpose in the wine world.
Beyond Our Borders
The expansion of Tres Ríos
In 2014, Tres Ríos acquired Rancho Santa Sabina, located in Santa Isabel, Chihuahua.
This ranch, located on the banks of the Santa Isabel river, has a unique landscape, surrounded by centennial trees with views of the mountains.
On this land, the company planted Pinot Noir, Viognier, Semillon, Shiraz, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Gewürztraminer grapes.
In 2015, Tres Ríos acquired the El Molino ranch, located upstream from Santa Sabina ranch. On this land, the company planted Monastrell, Pinot Noir and Malvasia Blanca grapes.
With the acquisition of these new lands, Tres Ríos created the first wine route in Chihuahua.
This route, which includes visits to some of the ranches, offers visitors the opportunity to learn about the winemaking process and enjoy the region’s gastronomy and landscapes.

Cabernet Sauvignon Tres Ríos is a red wine from the Santa Isabel region of Chihuahua.
It is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, and has an intense red color with aromas of black fruits, spices and oak.
The palate is medium to full-bodied with firm, balanced tannins.
Shiraz
The Shiraz Tres Ríos is an intense and spicy wine, with an intense and bright red color.
